Live: Day 8 Of Derek Chauvin's Trial | NBC News

  • Chauvins a murderer. No court case can disguise it as anything else. How judges define this will define the trust that american will get from the world. The world are concerned and relying on america for truth. The truth is what matters for trust and the judge has a big responsibility to display what true justce is for the safety of their people. Should a judge decide to support justice by making the right decision to favour George floyd then america will get attention as a trustworthy place to seek justice. On the other hand should the justice system of America lose trust to support murderer then no doubt distrust will stiffen their economy and no doubt allow the world to walk freely knowing the trust of Americas judiciary system is no longer worth trusting to look after African Americans. It's as simple as that.

Panic attacks give the person who is experiencing them a sensation of not being able to breathe. Then he ACTUALLY couldn't breathe with 3 cops sat on top of him. People who are pointing out that GF was saying he couldn't breathe before he was on the ground as some kind of proof that the police restraint was not the cause for his inability to breathe need a reality check or are just not interested in the Truth. from the UK.

    Glenna RoseGlenna Rose6 күн мурун
    • @The True Patriot The duty belt, etc., is to be considered for total weight. However, I am referring to his own body weight. I don't see anything anywhere as to who weighed him, only the photo and that was his weight listed with the photo. Based on what I know personally of my husband as related to weight, I do not believe the man in that photo weighs only 140 lbs. Heavens, at 5'5" and in peak physical condition, I weighed 140 lbs. but did not compare it to me with male and female body differences but, instead, compared it with my husband who, by the way, looked much thinner in the face.

      Glenna RoseGlenna Rose3 күн мурун
    • @Glenna Rose who was responsible for weighing him? the prosecutions whole case revolves around the pressure on Floyd. you would think the prosecutions team would of demanded to weigh him themselves.. they also mentioned during the trial that his duty belt can weigh 30+ pounds.. so that's something to consider to.

All the body cam stills he keeps using to try to prove Derek Chauvin wasn’t leaning on George Floyd’s neck are during the time after he had already stopped breathing. Basically anything after 20:27:- he had already lost consciousness. He must be banking on the witnesses and jury being really dumb. If I were on that jury I’d for sure be pointing that out.

    Corinne SuloCorinne Sulo7 күн мурун
    • @Scape Goat asphyxia is what dying from not being able to breathing is called, yes. They asked if COVID could have contributed to his suffocation. And because he was in the prone position, if he died because he could not breathe that is positional asphyxia. If you missed it, there are several experts in these trials that not only explain it, but based on their professional opinion, let us know that’s what they believe the cause of death to be. Like the medical examiners who just backed that up.

    Mark WolfeMark Wolfe7 күн мурун
    • @Glenna Rose In complete agreement with you, I was just taken back when "Facts don't care about your feelings" Ben Shapiro glossed over the 140lbs with 40lbs extra in gear. I wasn't downplaying it if you got that intent. That defense witness to counter the prosecution's witness on applicable force and tactics was stupid. George Floyd was struggling because he was trying to use his head and arm to lift his body to breathe if he had just relaxed? Or that it is only applying force if there is a sensation of pain?

      Mark WolfeMark Wolfe4 күн мурун
    • @Mark Wolfe Regardless of his weight, with or without equipment, Dr. Tobin's testimony clearly demonstrates it was oxygen starvation which caused Floyd's death. Also, in the video (and still photo of the video frames), it clearly shows all of Chauvin's weight was on Floyd since the toes to his shoes were off the ground. I found Dr. Tobin's testimony very informative as well as credible.

High or NOT, the cops were REQUIRED by law AND policy to render aid to a suspect in distress and they willfully chose to disregard that requirement multiple times and in multiple ways. As a result, of THEIR choices a HUMAN BEING is dead! If he was going to die from his heart condition, it didn’t have to happen in THEIR custody. If he was going to die from a drug overdose, it didn’t have to happen in THEIR custody. He died in THEIR custody because they CHOSE to disregard the law, the policies, their training, and his HUMANITY!

If you go back and watch Lane's body cam, he handcuffed George when he took him out of his OWN vehicle, before they walked him across the street! At this point in the trial, they don't mention what happened to the two drug dealers that were in the van with George. I'm also waiting to hear about when all 4 officers were fired less than 24 hours after this happened. I live in the Twin Cities and that was reported on our local news.

    Margaret LiebschMargaret Liebsch8 күн мурун
    • I don’t see why Derek Chauvin’s firing will be a factor in the case. It’s already been made clear that his conduct was unacceptable by the MPD. I would think that it would be unnecessarily prejudicial. Just because he was fired wouldn’t make him guilty of a crime. Just as if he hadn’t been fired if wouldn’t have been prof of innocence.

Chauvin moved his knee when paramedics walked up because he knew he had already killed him. Please clarify this District Attorney! It is irrelevant where he had his knee or leg or freaking big toe! He had already killed him by pressing his knee and leg and body weight into his neck and suffocated him. Unbelievable that the defense even tries to get this into evidence because it shows guilt of murder for sure

Crowd were worried and GF was denied medical attention. MSN Knee on the shoulder blades/back wasn't held down by 3 officers for 9 minutes using full weight. Was handcuffed in the prone position at the request of GF. Isn't unreasonable to detain if person has been hostile or resisting. GF had a high amount of drugs in system, complained about breathing before being restrained. Neck restraints are taught as a method of use of force. Crowd were screaming and police had called an ambulance. COURT My opinion . . . . GF overdosed on drugs while being restrained. Police negligence to act sooner didn't comply with the protocol of putting someone in the recovery position, the crowd may have contributed with officers being distracted. Not guilty of murder.

  • All this trail expense & time.😤 First day watch all the video's. Then the second day ask that pig cop why would he do what he did is to murder a guy just to murder him why? Then say it don't matter anymore it over we can't go back in time. Third day nothing to appeal Saturday u hang in that city square at 6PM. To all the networks be there to televise it through the nation. Then repeat it 3 more times on the other 3 pig cops. After the last one is hung that will be the police reform for the police through the country. Then u will see alot of the pig cops that are cowards quit. Then the good officers of the police dept. will also be happy, cause pig cops like that put them in danger that they don't need. Thats from friends of mine & two of them are cops & 1 is retired & they agree whole heartedly.

  • I'm scared for Chauvin. We all know that Floyd over dosed, but the jury must be afraid for what the BLM terrorists will do if they rightfully find him not guilty. Sucks that POS losers who don't work have so much power in Murica.

  • I blame Floyd’s lowlife drug dealer who got him into doing speed balls & passed him the fake $20, then acted like he didn’t do nufin, didn’t know nufin. No one GAF about this poor man when he was alive & struggling w/opioid addiction, now they all cashing in on it literally & figuratively with all the social cache that comes w/being perpetual victims. Gives em license to act out their rage at their own bad choices. WHAT ARE YOU PPL DOING TO HELP THE FLOYDS OUT THERE NOW???!!!! NUFIN!!! Yall walk around like untouchables, terrorizing the public over grievances that are not your own, and looking the other way at the Floyds of this world, encouraging gangsta/thug/drug life as if it’s cool. Then law enforcement left to deal w/the mayhem. You throw ppl like Floyd UNDER THE BUS all the time. Don’t tell me your melodrama is caring.

  • So what was in Floyd's system? According to the examination, 11ng/mL of fentanyl, 5.6 ng/mL of Norfentanyl, 0.65 ng/mL of 4-ANPP, 19ng/mL of Methamphetamine, Cotinine, Caffeine, 1.2 ng/mL of 11 Hydroxy Delta-5, 42 ng/mL of Delta-9 Carboxy THC, 2.9 ng/mL of Delta-9 THC, and he was a Corona virus carrier. Was all this why he couldn't breathe?

    • Well he was breathing fine until the killer cops squeezed the life out of him. I guess we'll never know whether the drugs would've killed him thanks to the moronic killer cops who decided to simultaneously sit on him for over 9 minutes

  • I almost feel bad for the defense attorneys. There is literally no case they can make to defend Chauvin. They try to cast doubt as to the cause of death, blaming it on drugs, not Chauvin, but that case hurts them as Chauvin could have prevented the drug related death of George Floyd had he followed policy and his duty. He purposely chose to neglect the health of Floyd in his custody, and chose to further injure his detainee guaranteeing his subsequent death. To make matters worse, his attorneys have to explain why Chauvin went off the rail and broke a myriad of policing policies. The only way to legally explain his actions is by equating Chauvin's actions to an allowable split-second decision, but what's indefensible is that split-second decision took 9 minutes and 29 seconds. The only way to explain that wholly unreasonable lengthy 9-minute-29-second-split-second-decision is to say that the non-existent threat from the crowd distracted him for the entirety of that time, despite that fact he had another officer running crowd interference. This defense strategy is further trashed by the fact that any perceived threat from the crowd could instantly be eliminated by removing his weight from George Floyd and turning him on his side. The only defense left at this point is pleading that Chauvin is wholly ignorant of police policy, protocol, law, best practices, and his duty to ensure the safety of his detainee. Proving that a 19 year experienced police officer who is in fact a field training officer who has had 866 hours of continued training beyond the police academy can be thaaaaaaaat ignorant is an impossible task. So where does that leave the defense? Absolutely no where. That's why the best his attorneys can do is use a tremendous amount of time trying to get witnesses to agree on obvious facts that in no way offer a defense or that help the defense, but hoping it will impression the jury and fool them into thinking the defense attorneys are making even a fractionally rational defense that would exonerate Chauvin. Someone needs to buy Mr. Nelson a steak dinner for even trying.

    • Also, when the defense attorney asked the question, he told the witness what was said. On cross, the prosecution attorney played the seconds *before* that and *asked* the witness what was said. A voice analysis would show what was actually said but still would not be relevant to the charges for which Chauvin is being charged.
